Okay - so I know this is premature....but just today I logged into my CRIS account and I saw that they've touched my case on Aug 25th!!
Probably not a big deal for anyone but MEEEE!!!
And my priority date is July 17th 2006- so people there are numbers available for September. :) :)

Prefer seperate checks for each, with one check if even one application gets rejected all will come back - this is what my attorney said
My attorney asked just to give one cheque for $745 each for myself and my spouse for I-485, I -131 and I-765. Our applications will be filed today.
Is this OK. Will all the 3 receipt numbers be printed on the back of one cheque. Please let me know if anyone of you have done the same. Thank you.

My sincere apologies for being harsh on IV members, I sincerely appreciate the efforts.
I guess Oct bulletin (EB3 - I) got me going there...

Congrats!
Usually there will be another message "Notice welcoming permanrent resident sent" . Then, after a few days there will be "Approval notice sent" , the physical approval notice goes to your attorney. You should receive the physical card within 7-10 days.

I got Notice welcoming new PR email on 8/5 and nothing after that.

You might be right. Check the response senator got from USCIS on Aug 6th. I was later approved on Aug 16th.

In reviewing the August Visa Bulletin, it does appear that visas will be available after August 1st for these employment-based adjustment cases. In reviewing the electronic records, it does appear that the contractor has placed these cases in a location where they will be pulled and sent to an officer. am always puzzled how H1B is valid also for outsourcing the h1b-employee to another company (like sub-sub-.....sub-contracting) ?
wasnt h1b intended for a inhouse job rather than a job at a client company ?
h-1 by its nature is a temporary job when it was created (it was not dual intent where you could apply for permanet residency). Law is very clear in H-1b that you can be considered the employer (workig at your location or under your direction and control at a client location (pure consulting). OR you can be a staffing agency and outsource employee at a third party location. In this situaiton you are considered a "token" employer and only pay the person. Direction and control come from the place where you are actually working. This is where it gets difficult. Even if you are working at an end client; it is difficult to satisfy uscis these days because the evidence they are requesting; people cannot get it legitamately from many of the end clients.
In some of the various proposals; lawmakers are trying to kill EB based greencard and h-1b for IT people by getting rid of staffing. Staffing companies have historically been the feeder system into the country. Get rid of the feeder system then whole h-1b for IT collapses. People getting h-1b would mainly F-1 students.

Is suing the only option? USCIS could be making unintended mistake. We want to get clarification in a smoother and faster process before the flood gates open in October.
There should be some other legal-process to get written clarifications/interpretation etc on the law (like some kind of AILA discussion with CIS).
If our interpretation is correct, how many of you are willing to sue CIS??

if you see life as a series of choices and actions, then the lack of GC inhibits a lot of choices and actions.
Absolutely agree :) However, keep in mind that if one door is closed because of not getting/delay in getting GC, there are other options too.
A good example is EAD & AC21 for people who do not want to stagnate in their careers. Now you might say that using AC21/EAD has risks, but then remember the old adage "no risk, no gain".
If we expect life to hand us everything on a silver platter, and get depressed if that does not happen we just ruin our happiness & peace of mind.

For variety of reasons, I wish to explore option of consulting instead of permanent corporate job. Can I do consulting in my own name directly or do I need to be associated with some company?
Green card (EB-2, Nov 29,2004 PD) application is in my name. I have filed 485 this July and expecting my EAD any time. I will be invoking AC21 after 6 months.
But need answer to this question
A. Consult on own?

I have a friend who got offer like u. He is cautious and paid $350 and met an Employment attorney re. non-compete. If u work at same desk and perform same duties as with ur prior employer, attorney told it comes under violation (as per his aggreement, if it says 'directly or indirectly' ). If they sue you u have to pay the loss and leave the job. The question is will ur employer Sue? He might get sued back for violations he did like missing payments to you, and many other dirty tricks to save money!!
The more u know the more complicated is non-compete, search online forums on non-compete. u can also consult some attorneys online.
Easy way may be talk to him and try to settle. Otherwise ask for your agreement and get it reviewed by an attorney.

I filed late June at NSC trs to Texas and received on July 2nd. Just received my RN yesterday for my 485. On line it says that my ead has been approved and the notice went out on the 25th.
Did your checks cashed before you got the receipts? or receipts much faster?? Congrats!
